Minot Maser

Minot has practiced since 2007, after earning a joint JD-MBA from the University of Montana. He originally obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and also holds a Masters in counseling psychology from Southwestern University in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Minot’s legal career started during law school when he interned for the Bennett Law Office, a firm that specialized in transactional law. His work with Bennett Law primarily entailed incorporation and state sales and property tax research relative to creating Montana based LLC’s. After Bennett Law, Minot worked at St. Peter, Warren, and Dyrud, a diverse commercial firm. There he was exposed to a broad range of legal issues from water rights, to loan defaults, pension plans, waiver drafting, and civil litigation.

Upon admission to the Montana Bar, Minot practiced with Moriarity, Badarrudin & Booke, a plaintiffs’ litigation firm. He handled a broad range of cases there often against large corporate defendants, such as United Parcel Service, Chevron, Taco Bell, AutoZone, and Burlington Northern Sante Fe. He was further involved in briefing appellate cases to the Supreme Court’s in both New Mexico and Utah, and orally argued the Utah matter before the Utah Supreme Court.

Since 2007, Minot has also practiced criminal defense, which became a primary part of his practice when he opened Maser Law PLLC in 2012 after leaving Moriarity, Badaruddin, and Booke. In 2018 he became a full time Public Defender with the Montana Public Defender's Office. He has represented defendants with a broad range of legal problems from basic disorderly conduct charges to felony possession of drugs to felony statutory rape. At trial, Minot has obtained favorable verdicts in approximately 2/3’rds of the cases he has tried before juries, either winning acquittals or hung juries that resulted in dismissals.

Presently, having moved to Littleton, New Hampshire, Minot focuses on criminal defense with a case load solely comprised of defendants who qualify for Constitutionally manated counsel as provided for in both the United State's and New Hampshire's Constitutions.

In his spare time, Minot is an avid backcountry skier, ice and rock climber, mountain biker, and backpacker.
